Aetochi
A land divided by bloodlines. A land united by divinity. Fiercely independent and proud, the city of Sonshan has clung to its holdings against the threats of barbarians, and would-be conquerors, paying for it in tithes of grain, gold, and blood. Sonshan is the capital city-state of the Principality of Aetochi. Feudal in its construction, Aetochi is governed by the Intendant Families, but do so under the behest of their ruler, the Divine Peer of Sonshan. It is through the Peer’s divine guidance that the land prospers, and the peace is kept. All serve the Principality. All serve the Peer. But it is beneath the light of the Divine Peer where the machinations of the ambitious take root, where the schemes of the Intendant Families brew...
Arshakan Empire
Once an immutable warmachine feared the world over, the Arshakan Empire has crumbled beneath the test of time. Established at the close of the Era of Many, the Arshakan Empire is steeped in storied history and culture. Presided over by an Imperator, dubbed the “Red Imperator,” a closed council of Praetorians, and a board of Senator elects, the empire has spent the past decades succumbing to decay. A deep rot sits at the nation’s capital. Resources are funneled from outlying settlements back to the capital with a reckless disregard for the needs of any outside their select elites. Governance The Raj Imperatus Reigning as chief of state, the final voice and driving force behind the empire's movements. An absolute position, the Imperatus...
Hundred Houses
In Seldaesa's north lies the great gardens and plains of the Elves, home to the perfection of the Hundred Houses, known as the Harannossë, and their eternal wars of Spring and Autumn. The Elves of the Hundred Houses are xenophobic and isolationist due to their obsession with purity and perfection, with half-breeds and other races within the kingdom often subject to servitude, even if it they don’t consider it outright slavery. The landborn (or commonfolk) are subject to the whims of the nobility and the knight-warriors who wage their petty battles across the kingdoms. Even the nobility themselves are consigned to gilded cages, destined to wage war upon each other for the historical title of “High King” that remains ever elusive, even to...
Kingdom of Altalusia
“Where the stone meets the sea. There Altalusia shall be. Bright blade upon the sky, singing for all who try. To reach her. ” — Ser Valtameri, Knight Captain of the Shimmering Hold. An old and proud kingdom that holds on fiercely to its independence, Altalusia is caught betwixt the machinations of the Free Cities to its south, and raiding parties from the north. Add to that a contentious peace with the dwarves of the mountains, and a constant struggle against the beasts of the bale wood, and you find a people who are no strangers to conflict and hardship. But were the pastures not so green and the hills of the high country not so rolling with promise, mayhaps the smallfolk would have abandoned their homes long ago. Might be then...
Lapvona
Lapvona is segregated into four significant areas governed by their Covenant. These Covenants maintain a monarchy within the major population hubs, choosing a King-Elect from among their adherents. Nomadic groups of exiles called Ryek can be found wandering amongst the land, usually pushed out towards the Tundra when winter approaches. They harbor little cultural uniformity, unlike those in Covenants. Despite having their own unique Culture, those from the South call everyone in Lapvona Lapvonians, even if Sisu is the term for those in a Covenant and those without being called Reyk. Governance Four Covenants Covenant of Thunder (Åska Covenant), Covenant of Shadow (Skugga Covenant), Covenant of Wind (Vind Covenant), Covenant of Water...
Miraj'Dah
Miradj'Dah is a vibrant floating city, deeply rooted in a rich blend of magical technology and spiritual traditions. Its society revolves around the unique power of crystals mined from the Suldazan desert, which provide the energy to keep the city suspended in the sky and fuel its advanced magical infrastructure. The Miradi people value harmony between the natural world and their technological advancements, believing that the crystals are divine gifts from the Goddess Aja’re (the name that Miradans have given the celestial ring of the world). Their culture emphasizes a balance between magic and nature, with a strong focus on the spiritual aspects of their work, art, and daily life. The people view magic not merely as a tool but as a...
South Ilican Free States
A diverse group of peoples and kingdoms with storied histories harking back to an age of rebellion against the Devahni empire, the South Ilican Free States boast a proud, storied history. Highly individualist, the States are a collective of disparate opinions, a people free from the rule of nations. Loud, spirited, rebellious, many words have been used to pin down the nature of the States, but above all they remain as their namesake claims: free. Less than three centuries prior, the States as far as the Altalusian border were held under the thumb of the Arshakan Empire. With every passing year, another State breaks away, raises arms against the Karmic Legions, and retells their eras of suppressed history. Governance Spanning the vast...
The Wagons of Elum
Elum is not a name of pride. In the old tongue of their ancestors, it means “forgotten.” They say the first of their kind broke the law. So they remembered the lesson, but not the man. No tale bears his name. No child is told it. He was unnamed, and thus the Elum began. “No one soul is worth the Road.” Who are the Elum? „When you walk beside the Wagons you carry the future. When you rest on them, the past carries you“ -Old Elum saying The Wagons of Elum are not a place, they are a people. A tight-knit nomadic society that travels a circular route over most of known Ilica, returning to old campsites season after season, generation upon generation. Numbering between 120 and 150 permanent inhabitants, the Elum frequently...
