Community & Forum Rules
Below are the site's general rules of conduct. By accepting the website's terms of service and creating an account/submitting content on Shroudweavers or its affiliates, you are agreeing to abide by these rules. Staff reserves the right to alter these rules at any time.On Maturity Levels
1. This forum is rated 3.3.3.
These numbers correspond to the commonly used RPG Rating System, detailed below.
[3.] Language | Swearing and mature language is permitted without limit. |
[3.] Sexual Content | Sexual content is permitted, so long as it is not fetishizing, or pornographic in nature. |
[3.] Violence | Intense or persistent violence is permitted. |
This rating means that In-Character (IC) threads may include mature topics unsuitable for younger audiences such as, but not limited to, gratuitous violence, swearing, and other adult themes. If a thread contains mature themes, it must be tagged as Mature [M] in the thread title and include a clearly visible content warning at the top of the post.
2. You must be 18 years of age to register and play on this site.
If a player is found to be younger than 18, they will be banned.
3. Player's characters cannot be under the age of 18.
NPC's under this age are allowed but cannot be present in threads containing sexual content. Players in breach of this conduct may be warned or banned at staff discretion.
We understand that stories containing minors can be written tastefully and without harmful intent. The above age restrictions are intended not to limit player exploration, but to protect our moderation staff. This is a hobby space run by volunteers, and we do not want to put our staff in a position where they might have to read pedophilic or sexually violent content in order to reach a moderation decision.
4. Players are expected to maintain appropriate boundaries between writers as people, the characters they play, and the stories people choose to tell.
What a person writes is not always a reflection of their moral values, and a player =/= their character. Players have the freedom to explore more mature topics in their writing. However, players are also expected to be considerate of others and make sure that mature content is approached in a respectful manner. Ample communication and consent between all involved players is key, and players are encouraged to discuss their comfort levels regarding graphic content prior to writing together.
If you feel that another player is blurring the boundaries between OOC and IC, or otherwise taking advantage of the above expectations to hamper your enjoyment of the space, reach out to a staff member.
Posting & Characters
1. This site uses a linked account system for characters.
A separate account must be created for each new character a player has. We recommend signing up with your OOC name first! This will act as your 'hub' account and allow you to link your character accounts together for easy access.
2. There is no word count or style requirements.
Clarity is valued over length of writing. Third person past tense is the most common format for posts, but is not required. Good communication with your fellow players is much more important to us than counting words. Mod decisions will never be made based on a player’s posting rate or writing technique.
3. This forum is written in an original fantasy setting. Canon characters from other franchises/universes will not be accepted.
Additional Gameplay Rules:
- In regular threads, characters cannot be killed or have their status permanently changed without that player's permission. PvP elements can be a part of threads, but all involved parties must agree on this type of interaction beforehand.
- Some major site events may include moderated threads, where a character's status can be permanently changed, up to and including the death of that character. "Death on" threads will always be appropriately labeled in the starting post and will have an accompanying plot page with detailed rules and conditions. By posting in a thread of this type, players are agreeing to these conditions.
- These types of encounters will always be moderated by a staff member to ensure fairness, and players are expected to display good sportsmanship towards each other regardless of outcome.
- No god-moding. This means no controlling other people’s characters without their express permission.
- No meta-gaming, which includes:
- Acting on information your character has no way of knowing in-game
- conflating OOC player conflicts with IC actions and vice versa
- writing elements into the story that are against the universal laws
Graphics
1. All art and assets used on the forum must be credited to their original creator.
Do your best to avoid AI generated art, or art without a clear source. Art and screenshots of original video game characters are fine. At this time, photographs or real-life face-claims/play-bys are not accepted.DIMENSIONS
- Images in signatures can not exceed a height of 100 pixels.
- Avatars look best when they are cropped to a 1:1 square ratio before uploading.
Discord & OOC Discussion
- Your site username must be included in your discord handle at all times.
- Treat people with respect. Harassing others, partaking in hate speech, racism, sexism, homophobia, or bullying will not be tolerated.
- Be mindful when having discussions on gender, sexuality, religion, politics, or race. These subjects can lead to contentious debates that are not appropriate for a casual social space.
- Do not spam.
- Do not share NSFW material in any OOC spaces.
- Do not mention or share screen shots from conversations of other communities.
- No advertising outside websites without prior approval.
Moderation
If the rules are not followed, players will be moderated with consideration to the severity, or continuation, of the infraction. The interventions that can be used by staff are as follows:- Warning
- Deletion of offending content
- Discord Timeout
- Banned from the community
