Rules​

  • The aim is to use as many prompts as possible in threads to earn rewards. There are 20 prompts. You only need 15 of them to complete the event!
  • Each thread must feature at least two members to qualify (you can't solo these prompts!).
  • You can use any of your characters to finish prompts - they don't have to all be the same – but the prize at the end will only apply to the character you completed the most prompts with.
  • You can only use one prompt per post.
  • You can use currently existing RP threads, but the posts for the following prompts need to be made during the event.
  • Reply to this thread with links to each post that features a prompt. Edit it as you complete prompts to track your progress.
  • This public writing challenge will end on December 1, 2025 - take your time and have fun!

The Prompts​

These prompts describe a general scenario for your character to get into and can be interpreted as you see fit.

1. One character tells a lie to another.​
2. A reoccurring nightmare keeps disturbing the character.​
3. Someone from the character's past finds them.​
4. The character cannot shake the feeling that they are being watched.​
5. An inanimate object comes to life and causes some mischief.​
6. After entering some place, the doors lock on their own and the characters become trapped inside.​
7. A beloved pet rises from the dead and starts following the character around like they once did when they were alive.​
8. There's an actual ghost.​

The quotes must be used in full somewhere in the thread for the prompts below. The lines can be used outside of dialogue, and pronouns or tenses can be changed to match context.

Bonus Round​

In honor of the patron month of Lists, each day in October there will be a new WORD which can be used to get bonus points. (AKA these are additional prompts). The word of the day can be used in a new post, or it can be inspiration for character art, such as a drawing, music, or one-off drabble. The 'no solo posts' rule does not apply to these Power Words.

Each day a new word will be announced in this event's discord channel. Words don't have to be used on the day that they are announced, and you can work through the list at your own pace. Until the event ends on Dec 1, that is.
